Very guilty of this. Bought both of D’Aulaires’ Greek Myths and Norse Myths when the kids were still way too young. Without going back in to my amazon account to check dates, pretty sure they were about 3 and 4 years old. This was something I was super pumped about since I had remember hanging out in my bed as a kid endlessly reading and rereading the D’Aulaires’ books. Loving myths and mythology. Too young, my kids. I tried reading them the books and it kind of took for maybe one chapter maybe two, but then they completely lost interest. Should have figured, not enough pictures, at that age kids really aren’t into the more text heavy books. And of course they don’t have the ability yet to really follow along and read or at least understand the words on the page, so can’t image it’s all that much fun for them.

At this point they‘re both pretty good at reading, sounding out words they don’t know. Give it one, maybe two more years and try again. They’ll love these freakin’ books like their dad did.. or else!!!!
