Where Did The Encyclopedia Britannica Go?

As I was finishing up my Kids and Coffee Table Books musings I was struck by the fact that I hadn’t seen nor heard of the Encyclopedia Britannica print editions in who knows how long. I certainly don’t see them in any of our friends houses any more. What gives? Yes, they take up a lot of room and they are somewhat antiquated by the internet. I suppose add to that in the modern age information probably changes so rapidly that a giant set of encyclopedias would be out of date pretty quickly. But there was a certain amount of fun to be had as a kid going through the big books, pulling them off the shelves, flipping through the pages. So, I had to google it, was the Encyclopedia Britannica still in print? Quick answer to that, sadly no. Britannica has been digital since 2012. Too bad.
